2013 Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) renewal begins Oct. 1, 2012; runs thru December 31, 2012
UCR registration is required for most interstate carriers holding a USDOT number. UCR registration is also required for Brokers and Freight Forwarders. States require trucking companies to maintain three year's proof of UCR registration for proper UCR compliance.
Recently the states have been creating UCR registration compliance audit procedures and will begin auditing soon. If you have missed a UCR year registration, now is the time to catch up your filing. Fines for missed UCR registrations are increasing. Just this past year three states have increased their UCR fines to $1,000 for 1st offense missed UCR registrations.
Listed below is the list of probable UCR missed registration fines per state. Even if your state is not listed, your state may decide to start accessing UCR fines soon. The goal of the UCR Board is to encourage each state to access fines for UCR non-compliance.
