South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles Legislation Change

The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles is retracting the requirement for owner-operators to either reactivate or acquire a new USDOT number.  This announcement is effective immediately.

 

If you complied with the original legislation and acquired or renewed a USDOT number during the time of January 1, 2019 through February 5, 2019, that specific USDOT number needs deactivation right away.  As an owner-operator who is not a motor carrier, you are eligible for a refund of the money charged by the Federal Motor Carrier Administration for the renewal or activation of the new USDOT number during that specified period.  Please submit the proof of payment to the address below:
